Content Translation

ᱥᱟᱯᱲᱟᱣ

Hi,

I noticed that you created several articles using Content Translation, such as ᱡᱷᱟᱨᱥᱩᱜᱩᱰᱟ and ᱡᱷᱟᱨᱥᱩᱜᱩᱰᱟ ᱩᱰᱟᱹᱱ ᱰᱟᱹᱦᱤ.

Thank you for doing this! ᱴᱤ ᱥᱟᱨᱴ ᱡᱤᱛᱠᱟᱹᱨᱤᱭᱟᱹ ᱠᱚ ᱞᱟᱹᱜᱤᱫ ᱵᱟᱰᱟᱭᱡᱚᱝ ᱠᱟᱛᱷᱟ Do you have any comments about how Content Translation works? Is it useful? Do you have any complaints? Do you find it convenient and helpful? --ᱟᱢᱤᱨ ᱮ ᱟᱦᱟᱨᱳᱱᱤ (ᱜᱟᱞᱢᱟᱨᱟᱣ) ᱐᱘:᱕᱒, ᱒᱒ ᱯᱷᱮᱵᱽᱨᱩᱣᱟᱨᱤ ᱒᱐᱑᱙ (UTC)Reply

Hi  Amire80: yes as you know that the content translation is a beta feature in wikipedia, in santali wikipedia a littlebit of work is needed. Automated translation still needs some work here, unlike in other languages wikitranslation where you have to just click on a language and the language is translated automatically, this software is littlebit had variation, you will have to type manually and by seeing the left column aritcle and you have to write and translate in the right hand side. As if you are translating in wordpad, but one advantage here is that you can save your work where you left in this tool and no need for closing and opening windows again and again for translation.
my use of this tool:
It perfectly worked for me and a boon for me as it is easier for me to just read to left and write in left.
It is useful for those who already know the language Santali in ol chiki, but if don't know the language then it will be no problem as their are many for help, you can ask for any additional help in santali wikipedia discussion here, ᱣᱤᱠᱤᱯᱤᱰᱤᱭᱟ:ᱜᱟᱞᱢᱟᱨᱟᱣ ᱟᱠᱷᱲᱟ, its like a Wiki tea house where you can discuss any doubts reagarding any problems.

Need your input on a policy impacting gadgets and UserJS

ᱥᱟᱯᱲᱟᱣ

Dear interface administrator,

This is Samuel from the Security team and I hope my message finds you well.

There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed policy governing the use of external resources in gadgets and UserJS. The proposed Third-party resources policy aims at making the UserJS and Gadgets landscape a bit safer by encouraging best practices around external resources. After an initial non-public conversation with a small number of interface admins and staff, we've launched a much larger, public consultation to get a wider pool of feedback for improving the policy proposal. Based on the ideas received so far, the proposed policy now includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, best practices for gadgets and UserJS developers, and exemptions requirements such as code transparency and inspectability.

As an interface administrator, your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on the policy talk page.

Have a great day!

Samuel (WMF), on behalf of the Foundation's Security team ᱑᱒:᱐᱘, ᱑᱐ ᱡᱩᱞᱟᱭ ᱒᱐᱒᱓ (UTC)Reply

Hello @Rocky 734,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am contacting you because I posted a message from the WMF Language team in your Wikipedia village pump to communicate our proposal to make MinT with the IndicTrans2 model the default machine translation in Santali Wikipedia.

The WMF Language team will make MinT the default machine translation in your Wiki by February 6, 2024. Please let me know in the message thread before then if you have any objections to having MinT as the default machine translation in Santali Wikipedia. Thank you so much for your feedback.
